    I'm looking to add two adsense veritcal banners to my site "http://www.theoprahfanclub.com". It's usng a template found freely and enjoy it but finding out where the adsense script would go is a nightmare...

    Any wordpress experts know where i'd place the left and rightside script for adsense?

    Greatly appreciate any info since i'm not an HTML programmer, more a novice-moderate blogger...

    Thanks...:)

    Ok, to place those you look in wp-content/themes/floralia/sidebar.php. As to where you put the adsense code....
    For the right sidebar, it looks like the place to put it would be at this line:(line 24) after the /ul before the div. part.

    <?php endif; ?>
    </ul>
    </div>

    Left side is a lot tricker though cause you didnt say where you want them to show up. So I won't hazard a guess on that part.

    Forgot: copy the file before you edit it! Always keep a backup of the original file.

    On top of what shallowink said, you're going to want to see where the colums are at in your theme code before messing around with the theme in the first place. Most themes have the side columns in a sidebar.php file, though not all will.

    It would be prudent to check for the location of the sidebars, and then check the stylesheet to see how those sidebars are styled before adding anything to the theme, just to be on the safe side.

    Widgets. Life is so much easier with widgets.

    Go to your Dashboard -> Presentation -> Widgets. If the guy that designed the template knew what he was doing, you'll see two sidebars there.

    If you haven't built the widgetized sidebar, just drag and drop the widgets from the bottom to include what you want in the sidebar. For example, for the right sidebar, you'd drag in the "Pages," "Search," and "Categories" widgets.

    To add Adsense code, drag a "Text" widget to where you want it to go. Click the edit icon on the right side of the text widget and paste in your adsense code.

    If you only see one sidebar, you'll need to make a few modifications to your template to get a second sidebar. Here's one walkthrough on how to do that.

    I don't see why anyone would not use the widgetized sidebar. Makes life so much easier.
