Wordpress + Sticky Post plugin screws up Technorati

Im posting this because I know there are others who have had problems getting their wordpress blog posts to show in Technorati.

I have several blogs that I post to daily. One is a porn site that normally gets alot of technorati traffic. Several weeks ago Technorati stopped showing my new posts. I couldn't figure out why. Emailing them is a total waste of time.

I tried everything .. pings, manual pings from their website, etc. I just assumed they banned the site.

Then last night I figured it out. Around the same time that my posts stopped appearing on Technorati was when I actually used the Wordpress plugin "sticky post" for the first time on the blog. This is the plugin that allows you to mark a blog post at "sticky" so that it always appears as the top post.

Well this was apparently was what was causing my problems because after I "unstuck" the post I made another new post. I waited 10 minutes and then visited Technorati's website. Sure enough there was my most recent post, PLUS all the other older posts that were still showing on my home page.

I quickly went to my other blogs .. the ones where the posts stopped showing since LAST YEAR, and "unstuck" everything. I then made a new post in each blog and the same thing happened ... the new post and all the older posts still appearing on the front page showed up in Technorati.

So it seems that when technorati is crawling the homepage (or looking at the feed?) it stops when it sees an old post. I guess that makes sense, but it just never occurred to me before.

Maybe this will be beneficial to others.
