Wordpress sites that are not blogs

I'm curious to know who all has used Wordpress to create websites that are not blogs. I know of a few that some friends have made, but I would like to see some other formats that people have used.

If you use Wordpress as a backend to your website (or know someone who does) that does not use it as a blog, post the URL here.

    Hi,

I am also curious to know too. Could you already post the addresses of the WordPress non-blogs made by your friends ?

I've coded FreelanceDaddy for a client using wordpress as a back-end, and it isn't a blog. I've used the static front page plugin to replace the main page with a wordpress Page.

Wordpress made managing the site so much easier for him. :)

The cat page I'm afraid is still technically a blog. The format that it uses is very much blog-like.

The second one looks great. I have always just taken off all the tags that give the date and comments and all that fun stuff for the posts and just had one post as the front page. I'll try out that plugin.

The main website that uses Wordpress as a non-blogging platform is www.geeklovenetwork.com. I really like what they have done with their site.

Your choice of CMS is all personal. I like Wordpress because of it's infinite expandability and HUGE support and development base.

I've had experience with Wordpress sites and I can't fault it at all. I love how you can build the site up from the ground whereas with a CMS like Mambo you have to start disabling so many components or blocks that are irrelevant to your site.

there are a lot of things to do with wordpress, its just depends on the developer's mind..

Here are websites that i have developed recently for my clients
    1. thriftyscot.co.uk
    2. ringrunner.com

These are managed with Moveabletype, and the website owners feel it very easy for managing their contents and pages.. Even movabletype is a blogging software but i have manage it as a website CMS

CMS is just short for content management software (or system)... WordPress is a CMS like any other. Joomla, Mambo, Drupal, etc. are not better or worse, just different.

Sometimes you just don't need all the extra stuff that comes with the others. I personally prefer WordPress. It's fast and easy... both when installing, upgrading, backups, usage, etc.

Modifying WP is super easy and often times you can find a ready made plugin for what you need... the user base and support is huge and there are countless free addons and templates for the lazy people out there. :)
    (hehehe...)

To be quite honest, I'd rather modify my WordPress install than start using and customizing Joomla or other... mostly because WP is so much easier (and faster) to use and it really helps using a blog engine when doing marketing and such.

Disclaimer: Other CMS systems can be just as good but you need to consider the learning curve and the extent to which you are willing to modify the base platform.

    take a look at b2evolution

the ability to slot b2evo in with whatever design you create is quite appealing
