Wordpress site/blog in one?

    I am creating a site offering a service so I want the first impression of my site (powered by wordpress) to be a site opposed to a blog format.

    I also want to offer tips and techniques so I want a blog style side of things attached to it.

    How would I do this? Not sure if you will actually understand what I mean, it sounded clearer in my head :p

    You can set a page as your landing page that looks different from the rest of the blog post/pages.
