WordPress - showing snippets from blog posts on the homepage

I was wondering if this is possible -
Basically, I want to show like 3 or 4 snippets (maybe the first paragraph or so) from the most recent blog posts on the homepage, instead of the entire post.

Is there a setting or something that would allow me to do that?

    Thank you!

    Thanks for all the info.

I've decided to use the simple <!--more--> solution, but am looking into the plugins as well.

    Thanks again!

to do this automatically, you can use plugins and the excerpt template tag.
Please see the thread which deluxdon gave.

Using <!--more--> is the best way as it takes up no memory or space.
