When Google crawls any of my posts on my website it ends up looking like this in the search results - http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/2940/fffffg1.jpg What do I need to do so I get nice looking results? I just want it to show a description of my choice, not any of that admin, categories or date stuff that you see. Is it anything to do with the "excerpt" box in Wordpress? I am confused as what I need to do, please help me out
You don't have your meta description set. Add a meta tag description and that will be what shows in the search results. I think there are a few WordPress plugins that do dynamic meta tags. Just make a search on Google and check out what you find. Here is one plugin in that I found. It sounds like it does what you need, but I have no experience with it. http://www.g-loaded.eu/2006/01/05/add-meta-tags-wordpress-plugin/
That's where Meta tags come in. Meta tags can define what search engines display about your website. http://www.thegermz.com/tutorials/seo/seo-tutorial-part-3 I have a tutorial about Meta tags there, it explains the use of Meta tags. Good luck
As the others said, you need to set your META description for each page. The best plugin I've found (to date) that can do this) as well as everything else for that matter is the All In One SEO Pack.
I second Dan on All In One SEO Pack, it is a plugin you will not regret installing as far as it regards meta tags and seo for blog
The All In One SEO Pack gives you a handful of options on how to have your URLs formatted. You can pick whichever one you like the best and bingo!
