You probably have been pressing "Save" instead of "Publish". After you set the date you want it to be posted you have to press Publish. It will not publish immediately, but it will show up as a scheduled post and will post on the time you set it.
I am using latest WP and also using schedule posts feature without having any issue. You are definately doing something wrong. DON.
nope I have been doing scheduled post for years, and now how to press publish (although others do seem to do this by mistake)(however this is not the case with me), further investigation show this seems to be an issued with current and last version. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/197842 displays other users having the same problem.
http://www.keralpatel.com/scheduled-posts-in-wordpress-blog/ I made a blog post about it sometime ago. Thanks.
Nice post, but thats not answering the issue. I appreciate that some people have no idea how to schedule posts correctly. However I do, I have done a lot of them on my income blog now. The problem here as my above link in google results shows, is that the new version of wordpress seems to have some kind of bug which randomly effects some and not others. When I schedule a post ( correctly) the time comes and passes and no post is done. This is driving me crazy, I spen ages writting hundreds of posts, which now wont post. Just to reconfirm, I did hit publish and not save. See my above link for the problem in wordpress blog.
Nick just re read your blog entry, you suggest marking it as published, and then hitting save and not pressing publish? This is not the way I have been doing it for about two years, has wordpress changed the precodure for doing this? It has always been that I wrote the post, edited time stamp/date and then press publish. It would then que it up and publish the correct time and date. Is this a new thing? Havig to select published as the status? I would love to try this, but my hosting has been down since yesterday evening too. Bag of poop that they are.
I have written the exact procedure in my blog post and you can even see the screenshot that it is queing them up. Yes other version might be having new features.
Right tried what your post said and that dont work either. I do know how to do scheduled posts, as this years I have done over 1,000 for clients which have all worked fine, its only after installing latest version that it has flopped big time. Anyone got any clever ideas?
Are you using the latest version because I use to have the same issue back in the 2.5 days? Have you you submitted the problem with Wordpress? When I had the issue before I reinstalled and had no problem after that? I know that can be a pain in the ass but it may just be the answer.
Yup latest version of wordpress. I tried your suggestion of reinstalling and nothing. I have tried scheduling posts how I normally do it, and the way the fella above suggested neither work. They simply pass the time, and then say the amount of time they should of been posted (3 hours from now etc) I have had a mate of mine who is an internet designer/builder onto it, and he cant get it too work either. Since my orginal post, another blog I run for a client is now also suffering from the same problem. The wordpress blog has lots of people suffering from this, and no one seems to be able to find a solution, this is most annoying.
In a wierd twist, WP schedule posts were fine on a friends blog which also runs the latest version, so maybe its something to do with my hosting provider, anyone any ideas what it could be?
