Wordpress Request

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by Garo_Master, Jul 15, 2008.

I was referred to this forum by a friend on another forum.
I was wondering If I could request a custom wordpress theme for my website.
I was also told that there are students that are willing to do that for free as long as they get credit and can link back to the site for resumes.
Is someone willing to help me?

Does this mean you wish to find someone to do it for free? If not, then I will be able to create a complete, custom WP theme for under $100.

are you able to do something like this for $100?
    zeldauniverse.net
what i like about this site is the two side bars and the scroll bar at the top.
I also like how they can open and hide the posts with a click.

I wouldn't expect someone to make a theme for just one link, unless your site is really popular. Check out the Link Sales Forum here to see why. A theme as good as Zelda Universe could sell for much more than $100.

I can give you those features in your WP, but that detailed of a design will cost more, as it will take more time.

Well to tell you the truth, you won't find many Wordpress Designers for Free, atleast not here. This is a Heaven for internet business for many, and they won't spare the chance of getting their hands on every single buck being traded here. :) - That includes me too.

You can try other places, or do what I do. Hire a simple Graphics Designer. That would be much cheaper.

Install Wordpress - Pick out any theme that you find appropriate (as in a 2 column layout or a 3 column layout). Then ask the designer to redo each and every image on the blog. As I am a designer, I get away with the designer costs :)

So you want a centered, fixed-width, three-column theme using the graphics from your old site? That's a lot easier but it would still take a few hours. I'd expect someone to charge about $30 for the basic theme without the scrolling and post toggle bits.

That toggle is just pointless showing off, it's more effort than scrolling! :D

how hard is it to edit a wordpress template for your own needs on a scale of one to ten?
like, switch the images for example?

Just Create the Images and rename them to the ones you have in your Theme folder :). You need to keep the size exact to get the right look. And then replace the original ones with your custom ones.

If you find a similar theme, you could get away with just editing the stylesheet. This one is pretty close to what you want:
    Hosting Tec Theme

If the theme supports widgets, you can change what appears in the sidebars without editing the theme files. You can add or remove widgets like Pages and Categories.
You need to edit the theme files if you want to change the metadata, date formats, footer links etc.

    You're welcome :)

There are heaps more like that. Search for red, fixed-width, 3-column layouts.
