Ok, to be honest, I'm more of a pre-newbie. I want to start a blog and most everyone seems to recommend Wordpress. But I want to have ads and do ppp so I can't use the free Wordpress, right? Can I use the paid Wordpress with ads and ppp? Or if I want ads and ppp do I have to get a host? Ok, so if I get a host, I've seen a lot of recommendations for Host Gator, but when I visit the site it says that "Windows Web Hosting is Coming Soon" http://www.hostgator.com/windows-hosting.shtml So does that mean I have to have Linus to use them? And if not Host Gator are there other good hosts for a Windows user on a budget? Hmmm.... Perhaps, I've overstated my pre-newbie status. I think I'm more of a pre-newbie wannabe. Either way, I could use some help. Thanks
You need a linux server. HostGator is pretty good. They are probably just doing a quick bit of site maintenance. I also suggest people run wordpress themselves. You will have better control over things. hope that helps, Nigel
You can put ads on blogger for free. You can't put ads on wordpress.COM If you do get a host, hostgator is a good place to start. You can download WP from wordpress.org, and put ads on that. feel free to send a pm my way if u need assistance
Yes - Host Gator is a fine choice for hosting your own domain and Wordpress blog. http://bluehost.com is also another good one... You definitely want to host your own domain and Wordpress blog in order to optimize and monetize the site. You can add any number of monetization (ClickBank ads, FAVads, Adsense, Video marketing, audio - basically anything you want by using a Wordpress theme that has widgets and through the use of various plugins available for Wordpress. hey! what are u saying, u can't use adsense ads if u r using free wordpress hosting, like yourblog.wordpress.org but if u have ur own domain such as mine, then its fine. so now you can use Wordpress for free and u need unix or linux webhosting nor window based. Hostgator is offering fantastico deluxe in which u cna install wp within min, also u can use free wordpress theme but don't remove author footer link as some ppl ask.
I would also recomend HostGator. You need Linux hosting. Dont be confused, this has nothing to do with the OS of your computer.
