    Hey!

I was thinking about starting to make free wordpress theme designs. And Im not quite sure if there is an easier way to edit the css (and templates if there are any). They want 4 cents a day, and I was wondering if there was some way for me to not have to pay (legally, of course).

    Cheers!

Who wants four cents per day? As for editing the CSS, it depends on how good you are and how clean the HTML code is.

For me the easiest way to do wordpress is first do the design in photoshop
    then code it. -- i prefer xhtml/css .. u can use tables or divs...up to u

then i just download a simple theme and edit it .. so its actually starting like from scratch. and for the css..use the css/style u used when creating the coding of the design..

if u need help w/ the tags like the includes..go to de codex of wordpress u can find them all there!

    Good Luck!

Well, I just want to know how to actually start creating a wordpress theme. I know web design and forum design especially, so I know how to design web templates and forum software, but I've never done wordpress. I made an account with them and they tell me I have to pay them 4 cents to design themes...a day. And I was wondering if there was something else I could do, hopefully without paying, because I just want to create wordpress themes. You know?

Go to www.wordpress.org and download a copy of WordPress. Then install it onto a server. If you don't have one you can install to, go to www.apachefriends.org and download XAMPP. Then install to that.

Most of the WordPress themes suck code-wise. But you'll quickly notice that they tend to follow a logical flow order (header, content, sidebar, footer). Note that the menu is missing from this. Most themes are set up to have the menu in the header or sidebar - in the header that's fine, but the sidebar's a waste (since technically speaking a sidebar is for EXTRA information, not navigation).

Just play around with the default Kubrick theme's HTML code (ditch the stylesheet, trust me) until you find a structure that you're comfortable with, then style that to taste.

I trust the WP Theme Generator about as much as the US Navy would trust me (or any other civilian) to captain a Nimitz class aircraft carrier.

You mean the USS Nimitz? (SS is reserved for civilian vessels.)
