    Wordpress is a system that outputs html
    Seo is the system of making that html rank well in search engines

    It stands to reason that you can do seo on wordpress... What made you think you might not be able to?

    Check out some SEO modules for wordpress.
    Just search for SEO in the module search page and you get plenty of them.
    Some of these (e.g.: All In One SEO Pack) are very good.
