Wordpress problem #51..Can't delete & "Publish" never completely loads.

I have a couple of problems with my wordpress:
    First:
When I hit "publish", or "save", ...it never completes the load, it goes to an error message.
The function itself works, when I check it, it always is there, but this cannot be right.

    Second:
It won't delete anything. Categories, Pages, and Posts will not delete (i have to edit them as "Draft" or "Private" to rid them from view}. It says it does, but when I go back they are still there.

What is the problem and has anyone else experienced this?

I think it's 2.1. Scared to upgrade, never done it before.
But it has always been like this, since this version came out, that's why I was thinking it was something else.

It is happening to my blog too....If you want to delete your posts use firefox..it works for me..IE doesn't work...As for "publish" not loading completely, I am not going to bother with that as long as it works.....Maybe it will work if you decrease the number of sites and directories you "ping" after each post.

It might be a plugin doing this, older versions of some plugins may need to be update. Off the top of my head I have had Smart Update Pinger cause database errors on some hosting accounts.

Start disabling one plugin at a time testing after each one to see if that is the cause. I have also seen some themes cause this as well, you can try to switch themes and check...

It does it with every theme that I have used...I think that I will see if the Ping List thing will do the trick...I do have quite a few in there.

There's a new version of the Smart Update Pinger as Christian Daven has stopped developing this plugin - see UP Smart Update Pinger

Upgraded to the new version of wordpress, and shortened my ping list, ( I haven't changed it in months).
    It is working fine now.
    Thanks all.
