    http://bracesforum.org - plain wordpress. I am using a plugin that's showing the sticky posts first in their categories (for the people who buy featured posts) and that's it. Everything else is done simply from the theme design.

    Well, using post categories, google map and custom fields - the directory site can be built. If someone is interested in this project - i am willing to participate.
    Using multiple category driven powered search plugins - we can even facilitate city filter. Best part is that this can be integrated into any theme.
    yes, there could be some limitation - but can still be powerful structure.

    I am also willing to participate in buying Vantage Theme. let us see, how many people may join in this. The problem with this theme is not the $99 price; but many premium features e.g. city filter, large sized google map for the listing at top as premium plugins (say these two will also cost $29 each).

    Yes, very well implemented this for directory like listing. The same can be expanded with google map on each post; custom fields and/or custom form.

    I own Vantage, it has some serious growing up to do, but I am sure the developers will stick with it. Thank goodness I have a lifetime license which they don't offer any more. They recently made it fully responsive.

    Have you implemented with the two premium plugins, as what I could see from demo that - without those two plugins it is not that impressive. Now these two plugins cost $29 each. This seems to be worst part of their selling strategy.
