wordpress permalink .htaccess is 777 ok?

i bought a blog and i wanted to change the permalink. To change it i had to make 777 but now when i try to close it back to 644 it can not show the page.

If i have 777 in permalink and .htaccess would it leave the blog open to hack? How can i do

 

leaving the .htaccess file at 777 is risky, it should still work when it is set to 644, if it dont then i would contact your host and find out why.

 

cant you just do modification there ? ehttp :// domainname dot com/wp-admin/options-permalink.php ?

i never got any problem for changing wordpress permalinks...

 

use another ftp program. it should work.

 

edit permalink structure, copy the .htaccess suggestion (.htaccess set to 644) to .htaccess file. re-upload the .htaccess file. you can edit .htaccess on your cpanel

 

yes the server manage to fix it i think it was some problem with the FTP
