    Hello Peeps!

I wanted to share something with DP readers here concerning WordPress performance. I have been looking at caching widgets recently to speed up my WordPress blog, but have been hesitant to install any of them because of horror stories I have read about in various forums on link.

Just yesterday I learned how to speed up a slow WordPress by optimizing its default .htaccess code in lieu of adding caching widgets which can cause other issues. As far as I have seen there are NO ill side effects and the gains on my site were quite noticeable.

I implemented this on my site last night, and it practically cut my page load times in half. It literally involved commenting out the default code added by WordPress to your web's root folder .htacess and adding in a few new lines of code instead. I couldn't believe what a difference it made in how WordPress performed for my site.

If you try it, please let me know if you guys are seeing similar results.

    Enjoy!

If it turns out that this is safe to do, this would be a great Wordpress plugin to make if you knew how to! That way, users wouldn't have to modify the code every time WP gets an upgrade.
