Wordpress or CMS

Hi I believe this question must've been asked to death but I'm really dying to know: which is easiest to build for a website. WP or something like Joomla/Drupal. I've read many mixed reviews about them. I've used WP and even with that I don't find it easy to use. For example, I'm used to using WYSIWYG web editor so I 'm having a little difficult time with WP. Like how to change the header etc. It involves lots of html knowledge. Perhaps I'm wrong about it... just wondering if anyone here can give some advice and help... thanks very much!

It really depends on what you want to use it for. WP is great for blogs or small personal pages, but if you want to handle a lot of content, like images/videos etc., you might want to look into some other CMS. Wordpress is actually quite simple though, if you have trouble with it you can try to read the documentation that is provided at the Wordpress homepage, and if you don't want to learn anything I suggest that you find a theme that you like and install it, that way you won't have to use HTML.

I'm working on converting my current site to use Wordpress. So far it's fine for the blog (obviously) and article directory, but I haven't come across a good gallery plugin yet for my photos and videos (there are some options, but none that I liked). I'm likely going to have to get one made.

If you are planning to make a huge site, something like a portal with lots of different features and functionalities, then a CMS like Joomla can work. Or better still, hire a professional who can custom build every thing for you. WP as CMS can be good for small personal sites and blogs only, as already mentioned above. Large Web Portals cannot be handled by WP alone even with all the plugins available.

WP is easiest for me, so I use it for conventional blogging and for medium sized sites that should probably be using a different cms... I just know my way around WP so I can make it work. It's easier than learning another cms over a few weeks.

WP is a CMS. It's just that it a little bit less "feature rich" than some of the others like Drupal and Joomla. But it is also easier to use.

I would say stick with WP and really learn how to use it. With the addition of a few WP plugins, it will probably give you all the features you need.

Like others have said... WP is extremely easy compared to mosts of the other CMS systems.

If you're having trouble formatting your posts in WP, just get a free WYSIWYG editor (like http://www.nvu.com/ ) and try to learn the basic html codes (like addding H tags, a hrefs, underlining text) by making a page in the editor and looking at the source code it produces.

Wordpress is the baseline and is mainly for blogs.... The more complete I know is Typo3, but complicated!

Drupal / Joomla is the way to go!
