hey i just want to know that what is the best way to get more traffic when i am novice blogger and about to start blogging. i know blogger is free service, but wordpress isn't. I am wrong????. are there services like blogger which let you use wordpress template and functionality for free.
I'm in the process of switching over to wordpress from blogger (I was influenced because of all the positive wordpress feedback on these forums) .
blogger is easier than wordpress... however, most of the bloggers love to use wordpress coz it looks professional... wordpress is a little bit hard to control if you're still new in using it... but, they prepared so many themes.... ps: my choice : blogger! Peace brother!
Wordpress 100%. You own your own content and technorati will pick you up immediately as long as you don't tweak it to much once you posted. It dislikes you changing posts after you made them and playing with the structure of the links. Seriously I'm talking to the point where it will just stop picking you up. When you get it make the link display domain/yourpage the closer you are to the main dir the better for keyword relevance. For Tags make a proper directory and dont' get spammy by listing all categories all the time. Maybe 1 category which gets most and than other specialty ones for where the post falls in. If ever you notice you're not getting picked up by technorati just claim your blog on it. It's a good idea anyways. Wordpress has sooooo many different templates and themes it's a no brainer. Go with Wordpress even if you have to pay someone on the forum 5-10$ for a basic install. Like I said in the opener Wordpress 100% and you OWN your content if you do backups etc it can never just vanish and everything you have done is gone... unless of course you forget to re-register your domain but that is another story all together!
Yeah what Dubz said! Wordpress might be a a bit more difficult in the short run, but its advantages in the long run are too much to pass up and it isn't that hard to learn if you are serious about it. Cheers
You can get a free wordpress blog here> http://wordpress.com/signup/ The only way you have to pay when using wordpress is if you install it on your own hosting in which case the hosting will cost money, but wordpress itself will still be free. I'd recommend doing this as you'll retain complete control over your blog and should it become successful will be able to add advertising to it and make some money. By the way I'd use Wordpress...
Well, seeing as the XML feed in blogger now points to blogger.com/feeds and not to your own URL (even if you use your own URL new blogger hijacks the path), you may find it better from a linking strategy to use WordPress... For that reason alone I am considering ditching Blogger for WordPress... or maybe even Movable Type...
I have been using blogger for a long time now and i can definately say its agood and reliable one. I havent used wordpress so i cant comment upon that .
I've been using blogger for 2 and a half years and I wouldn't say it has been reliable; the number of timeouts and the amount of downtime has more than agitated myself and a number of fellow bloggers who have been unable to login, post, edit and have even lost work and long comments from blogger's past instabilities... saying that I understand that's been rectified with new blogger... we'll see...
I think that blogger will get a boost now that you have to sign in thru your Google account, it will be a lot easier for people to access their blogs. Blogging is a form of email anyways, kind of like sending emails to whoever wants to read them.
I have had problems with the blogger admin, so im gonna try wordpress as I have heard good things about it.
I would suggest WordPress and it must be at your own hosting plan with a domain name! Keep in mind that blogger is blocked in many countries and you never know when some country's Govt is gonna block that!
I'd recommend cutting your teeth with Blogger because it's free but then look to either move your blog to WP or start a new one on WP.
Hey I heard that WP will ban any use of it in a commercial field (such as advertising for money, setting it up for online shopping, etc.) is it true?? I'm a blogger user, and a personalise freak so currently I'm not as THAT impressed over it's template, etc. You can't tweak and push it to the maximum ('coz its at its maximum already!) so I'm looking for a better option.
