Wordpress for me - easy to use, so many plugins, adaptable, awesome! just a little bit slow to load I think
What would be the best strategy to mix self-hosted WP and blogger? I mean what put on blogger blogs / self-hosted WP blogs
Cool thanks guys - I'm just about to set up a blog and was wondering which blog thing to use so that's cool I'll use wordpress
what level of programming skill is needed to use wordpress effectively? how much time does it take to get wordpress up and running if you know some programming, but are by no means and expert?
You don't need any level of programming. If you do have an host with Cpanel and Fantastico (ie: Hostgator), it's a 1 click instal. Then adding themes and plugins is very easy, just files to upload to the relevant folder. Here is a tutorial: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=822515
In my opinion, both of them are good and both serve a purpose. I like the themes that wordpress has to pick from. While the blogger themes seem difficult to work with or change. The one thing that I really like about wordpress over blogger is the scheduler. Sometimes I will write 3, 4, 5 or 6 post in one day, and then use the scheduler to post them out over the next week - 2 weeks. That is the one feature that I wish blogger had. I dont think its relaly which one is "better" - I think its which one fits your needs.
wordpress is better if you can manage SEO and other stuff by yourself.. Blogger does these automatically for you.. But wordpress is more powerful..
I started off on blogger a few years back, but since using wordpress i simply wouldn't use blogger again. I love wordpress.
Don't you feel that a network of Wordpress self hosted sites and blogger sites would be good (on a SEO point of view)?
You could use blogger sites as microsites to capture and drive traffic to your self hosted WP sites. Discuss your WP content on posts on the blogger sites. ETA: Apparently, we have a missing poll option: "Both"
When I started blogging I started with Blogger but soon moved to wordpress. I prefer using self hosted wordpress blogs. SticKer
