Would it be possible to have your wordpress pages on one hosting account and the mysql database on a seperate hosting account?

I don't think its possible but its not impossible too.
You hosting needs to have "Remote MYSQL" enabled for this to happen
Most of the time you won't be able to achieve this but, you can talk with your hosting provider about the same.

Which host would need remote mysql the host with the database or the host with the pages? I submitted a ticket to both of them asking the same question and so far no response from either.
