Wordpress not on the main root

I had a site that was there just to host pictures for my blog, but now I am hosting a blog there, I am using a wordpress folder I installed in http://example.com/wordpress

But I am thinking it'll be better if it were in http://example.com

So what's the best option in your opinion? Should I use the wordpress way, do a redirect, or should I use the main root as a landing page with obvious links to my forum, blog and sitemap?

And if anyone has a good example of a landing page doing that, then let me see it please.

    All responses are appreciated.

I couldn't get it in the root using C-Panel so I just did an automatic redirect on the main page to it.

Thanks...any reason in particular why you didn't just use the main page as an Intro?

really depends how many links you need to redirect, it's simply time and effort VS result

Well not that many links to be honest. As I said, this site only hosted pictures for a blog. So basically the links were between two sites, beside the odd site here and there that would have linked independently to the photos.

So what's your suggestion? A landing page? A redirect?

I would personally go for redirects, In my opinion landing pages look tacky,to be specific 301 redirects are seamless and you wont loose your rankings if you have any on them.

Great thanks, for the advice...I did a 301 in godaddy redirecting bourgy.com to bourgy.com/wordpress.
Just waiting for it to kick in...I hope www.bourgy.com also redirects because I have heard some stories

Number 6 kinda confuses me. When they say Move your WordPress core files to the new location (WordPress address)

what are they referring to, specifically?
