Is anyone have experiences with Wordpress Multi Site ? I want to install it for my personal use (I have multiple blogs).

    My questions are:

    1. Is acting like wordpress.com site ?
    2. plugins are common or should be installed for every instance ?
    3. You can use a single design for all sites ?
    4. You can configure it over multiple IP's ?
    5. Where can I download it? I didn't found it on the normal Download page from wordpress.org.

    Regards

    1. In essence yes. You can have sub-domain sites like WordPress, as well as, mapped domain sites too.

2 & 3. Not quite sure, but site owners cannot install any themes or plugins on their own, so I am assuming that you install only what they need. They can then select from only that list of themes and plugins to activate on their own.

    4. No. It is one installation, coming from one IP address and Database.

    5. You already have it. Multi-site was rolled into the main core files of WordPress with version 3.0

See Create a Network in the WordPress Codex.

Huh? How do you activate "multi-author"? Or are you saying to just allow authors to register to one blog? This post is about Multi-site and separate blogs.

Again, huh? The whole purpose of multi-site is to manage all of the sites from ONE admin console. Why would you want to fake that by having multiple site installations? That is just ludicrous.
