Yes, there's an option 'Users' in WP control Panel which allows you to set your user's role, i.e. Administrator, author, contibutor or subscriber. This is may be you're looking for!
I am sorry. No that is all true. I guess I should have asked our question better. We are building a multiple contributor system where people come in and then sign up to upload articles and maybe photos. Anyone doing this? Do you use permissions for this or did you build something custom?
Well, i just used the persmissions, nothing custom! Edit: Wp does support multiple users and authors, but it depends on your requirements and you can go for some other article script in accordance with that
