Hello, I'm thinking about starting a new website. One part of it should be blog-like, other part should have classical website structure (categories, subcategories...). I have basic skills in html and php. What is the best CMS sytem for me? I'm thinking about Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal (but I'm opened to any other). Thank you.
I would suggest wordpress you can have categories, blogs, forums, forms, people registrating, dynamic front pages etc. Some very useful plugins to improve functionality if you require as well. Kind Regards
we have used drupal on a few sites that have general content etc and a blog section. found the developer on here. now use them on a regualr basis. if you are looking to implement it yourself i have no idea which is easy to use from a developers point of view
It depends which platform you are most comfortable with. All can help you achieve the same goal if used correctly.
My deciding factor between Joomla and Drupal was the number of extensions. Joomla seemed to have more. One tip is to use the sh404Sef plugin http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/2380/details so that your urls are seo optimised
Yes word press is and far superior to anything else out there right now. I have tried them all and WP is the best. They have plugins for just about anything. You can have a really good website, plus you can have built in seo/social networking/advertising/marketing tools that really work with word press. So many other advantages over anything else out there.
I have realized that WP offers the best comfort and user friendliness together with great plugins and a wide range of users.
I will suggest to use Wordpress ( WP ). There are lot of Plugins which make Wp the best. 1. Seo Friendly 2. Easy to use / maintain 3. Lot of themes 4. Plugins like auto poster or Blog Traffic n etc etc u can buy , by which your blog will be at the top in no time
are you sure that's ALL you'll ever want to do with your site? My site started as a "classic" website.. I then started allowing people to post questions on pages I then integrated a forum I then integrated chatrooms I then started selling memberships to restricted areas of the site I then started giving (only certain) members blogs of their own I then started allowing (only some) members photo-albums I then started allowing members to create their own user-groups I did all that, and could do a whole lot more, with Drupal.. My point is, make sure the tool you choose can not only do what you want to do now, but also what you dont even know you'll want to do in the future..
I'm with Tearabite. List your requirements and the features you would like to have. In other words, compile a wish list. Then choose your CMS.
LOL how can you be so sure ? Good advice, I love drupal too. I have tried all three from a developers standpoint ... are you talking about ease of use for a non developer ?
