    Hi peeps

    I'm somewhat a beginner with wordpress, I've setup and created a site a few years back but am learning the ropes again

    Here's the deal:

    -I've unpacked a fresh wordpress zip and uploaded into root folder of my site
    -I've created a database on my host
    -Have configured the wp-config file with all my database details
    -Have gone through the Wordpress configuration setup with 'success' message

    Now that I type in my site name www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin I get this, instead of the usual log-in area:

    41297705.jpg

    HELP!!!! client needs this asap, and I can't even get past the setup!!!!
    I'm stumped as I've crossed referenced another site and both sets of files are identical.........could it be the host??

    Hi,

    I hope you can find the solution here.

    Are you installing in your own hosting or from some other hosting companies?

    Chris.

    Would not be easier to upload wordpress on to your hosting domain through your hosting company using fantastico?
    Takes about 2 minutes

    My guess is that there's something wrong with your .htaccess file. It should look vaguely like this:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    If the hosting isn't being *told* that 'index.php' is the file to look for, it may be looking for a non-existent 'index.html' - and then just presenting a list of the files in that directory.

    Try setting your 'permalinks' - that should re-write your .htacess file.

    ^ You were on the right track Khadaji!

    support finally got back to me....

    'The reason you are seeing your directory is because you didn't set up the "index.php" as a default document.'

    ....so now it works [IMG]

    "support finally got back to me..."

    I'd think about that one... I'm a big fan of hosting where I can just pick up a phone...

    But it's good to hear that you're back up.
