    there is a plugin available with wordpress, bbpress
    all the users of blog can be integrated with this and made to a nice forum with topics and threads

    I dont know why u say bbpress is not working,
    Alternatively you can try another wordpress plugin

    First, Install BBpress, than Create a page on your blog and call it FORUM after that at this code to the page that you created : [bbp-forum-index]

    Personally I like using Vanilla and integrating it with WordPress. I used BBPress, zingiri, Mingle, and SimplePress but I wasn't happy with them so I tried Vanilla and fell in love.
