What it looks like is you have a sponsored theme, the companies in the footer have paid the theme author to have their links on the theme. Its a way for theme creators to get paid for creating free themes. Normally keeping those links is a condition of using the theme is to keep their footer links intact. However quite often people want to remove those links so they encrypt them into the theme. Assuming this is the case you have a couple of options Hack out the links, and therefore effectively rip off the theme's author. Leave the links as they are and comply with the theme's terms of use Contact the author, often they offer a footer link free version for a fee Jen
it's easy to get around this with 30 seconds of work , and you only need a little HTML skill. I'm not giving it away because some punk has spent time creating it and wants a bit of reward.
Wordpress is so far the best CMS. I have several sites using wordpress. Its good if you appreciate the spirit of people providing free themes. For any reason if you don't want to credit the theme creator, just send him an email and ask him if you can remove the link for a fee. Lot of Designers as nice. They probably wont even charge you. cheers nirav!
