Wordpress Help

Can someone tell me how to add a wordpress theme. I have gator hosting and fantastico. I uploaded wordpress 2.2 script to my domain. Now i want to change the theme. Can someone tell me if i can copy and paste the theme in to the wordpress admin area or is this something that has to be done differently.

Any Help would be gladly appreciated.

Upload the new theme into the theme folder that resides in wp-content folder (I think). Go into the control panel of Word Press and under the Presentation option select the theme you want to use.

Use either the file manager in your host gator account or use FTP access. You'd be better using FTP access as its faster.

Did host gator give you FTP details when you setup the account?

And, no probs.

 

would this be in cpanel. Do i download a firefox plugin to do this. I usually outsource but figured i would tackle this one my self.

You'll find the file manager option in CPanel.

To use FTP you are best installing a client on your desktop PC. I highly recommend on using FileZilla - free, easy to use and very reliable.

Fair play to you for tackling it, we all have to start somewhere.

No luck with using the FTP method?

 

haven't figured it out yet. I will in time. Im sure it is easier with ftp as i had to load each part of the file. I got filezilla. I got it up but have not quite figured to use it. It was the anaconda theme and now im trying to figure out how to login. I was able to figure out the login from the original theme that comes with wordpress and it had a button to click for login. Now is there anyway else to login to wordpress dashboard.

FileZilla has a lot of options but for the most part you'll not need them.
