I checked more then 10 hacked (redirecting search traffic) sites and they all used old WP versions. The latest version is pretty secure.
People that have been around awhile, that still jump to conclusions? I checked one site that came up clean, and one site that came up as having hidden links.. But if you read what it says on the site you will know not to get alarmed. Well, shucks mate... dunno what to say... thanks? I would have expected someone who has been around a while do a bit of digging around before making assumptions... as they say, To AssUMe is to make an Ass out of U and Me. If you had bothered to spend 20 seconds doing a whois on unmaskparasites.com and one of my sig links, you would have know that it is not my domain. I live in Australia, the owner of unmaskparasites.com lives in Russia. (I wish I did have the skills to make a site like that) Hey there UseShots! Nice site Cheers James
Thanks James, I want to clarify the things regarding Unmask Parasites "find hidden links" pages. They generate Google search strings for specific hidden spam patterns. Those patterns are always the same. However the "site:" parts will narrow down the searches to specific websites. And yes, some pages may scare you. Actually the Google search results may scare you if you didn't realize how many sites have been hacked (although not that many as 5-6 months ago) Example: http://www.google.com/search?q="powered viagra wordpress" Hope the examples can make some web masters think more about web site security... Anyway tattoos didn't mention those "find hidden links" pages. He only mentioned the main Unmask Parasites service that can reveal the "sattan .org" redirect exploit. So, no need to be offensive and make premature assumptions.
Yellowberry.org, No offence. But I think it was unfair to give an infraction to tattoos. The URL he posted was from a thread on wordpress support forum and I don't think he was promoting his site. -Neo
My entire blog network was affected by this same exact exploit. I fixed my 25 or so blogs within a day. To my horror, I woke up one morning and found my traffic plummeted. I then discovered Google deindexed all of my blogs because of this hack. I tried contacting Matt Cutts, Google Adsense, and other people at Google and nobody helped me. Even after fixing my blogs they still are gone from Google and my income is pretty much down to zero and I'm almost broke. To make matters worse, I have Crohn's disease and need prescriptions that cost in the range of $600 a month. Google, what is that with your "Don't be Evil" motto? A multi billion dollar company and you can't help out someone that truly needs it? I wonder if a lawyer would take my case... hmm...
Sorry to hear that bro... Open a thread at google groups about it. It has been known that some google employees jumped in helped too. Let us know the thread url here then, so we can jump in and make some replies.
