i was using 1.2 wp blog and then i went to fantastico and did an upgrade. now my blog is JUST BLANK and all the pages that were there show BLANK and wp-admin shows BLANK too. Can anyone help pls thank u
So you used fantastico to undertake a automatic upgrade ? Which version did you upgrade to ? can you go yoursite.com/wp-login.php ? Or is everything blank ? Do you have a .htaccess file in your root folder?
Best to probably just manually upgrade to new wordpress, just dont overwrite wp-contents folder and that should fix it
This problem most probably might be caused because of corrupted wp-config file. Check how well is your wp-config file. Also check for any SQL errors.
This is plugin related. Move all plugins to an upper folder (cut/paste). Wordpress should be working normally then as plugins will be deactivated. Then activate one by one to see which is causing this.
I am second that. Always good to deactivated all plugins before upgrade and then activate them one by one after successful upgrade. DON.
De-activate all your plugins and then turn them onb one by one, or simply look for outdated ones and then start there, Its a plugin issue for sure it sounds like, Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for every1's help. I somehow managed to get it back up. Tips to non php mysql programmers : dont try to jump from 1.2 wp blog to 2.8 direct from the fantastico Regards, ASHISH THAKKAR
1.2 is too old and I have never used it in my life time, anyway, congrats that your blog is back up and working.
thanks hipnol, Nice pics of sallu's gf on your site So basically when doing an upgrade next time all i shud do is - deactivate all plugins while upgrading - upgrade to new wordpress manually and dont overwrite wp-contents - reactivate plugin ? hope that is it.... thanks all, ASHISH THAKKAR
1. Backup the wp-content folder and database 2. Deactivate all plugins 3. Upgrade manually if major jump like this one 4. Upgrade plugins 5. Activate plugins one at a time and check for issues, if issues delete the last activated plugin from the wp-contents/plugins folder. You can probably get away with just the automatic upgrade without any of the above precautions when doing a minor upgrade like 2.8.1 to 2.8.2, but always best to have your backups ready just in case.
