Wordpress free theme technical error/issue.

    Hi,

I want to freshen up my site with a new theme. I currently use the wp 2014 theme.

About a year ago I tried to do the same thing. I uploaded and activated a new theme but had an issue where all of my posts had the word 'by' entered at the start of my posts, e.g

If I wrote 'I went traveling' it would read 'by I went traveling'. Obviously this was unacceptable. I contacted the guy with the theme but he didn't know what the issue was. I was a bit of a newbie at the time so I just switched back to the 2014 theme that I was using before.

Now I really want to change it. I thought the problem before may have been that I was using an old macbook with an old browser. I changed laptop a few weeks back to a mac pro and am now running a modern browser.

However, when I install and test any theme in the customizer thats not a wordpress developed theme - 2010 to 2015, the same issue occurs and I get 'by' again. Not on the posts themselves, but on the content previews on my main page.

Surely I can't be the only one who has experienced this. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can rectify this? I don't want to use 2014 much longer.

    All help appreciated,

    Thanks

It's probably something to do with your content vs. the theme - the "by" seems to be something akin to "written by... <name of author>" which is on most blogs - unless you link to the page, or post the raw code outputting the content where the error occurs, it's hard to help.
What you can try to do is search the files in the theme for the word "by" and see where it pops up - shouldn't be too many hits in the core theme files. If you find it, maybe you can remove whatever that function does, or is, or create a child-theme where you alter that element.

I think its author name and there should be some error in code. We can solve it if we can see the code.
