He is talking about the available open source plugins, and they are or can be highly vulnerable to security loop holes (ie: wp ecommerce or any other plugin). and Wordpress? They comes under open source softwares (they don't gurantee you that your safe with them), even though they release security updates as soon as there are new vulnerable security loophole discovered, but still wordpress can be hacked. So yeah i agree, its a pretty unreliable platform for e-commerce website, rather go with Magneto. @ aka_le_Mulder - Break Free the Noob!!
WP is a great platform, but it was not developed for e-commerce in the first place. Why would you go with something that was designed and built for a different purpose? There a re several open source e-commerce solutions (OScommerce, Magento, even Joomla) and I suggest you pick one of them.
You asked for an example of an e-commerce site powered by WordPress. That is what this is. How many e-commerce sites aren't made by affiliates? BTW, you never said anything about a shopping cart plugin.
I think that really depends on what kind of scale you are wanting to build on. Larger sites may need a different solution.
Exactly, it is a blogging platform, not an e-commerce platform. There are some great e-commerce platforms out there. You can drive to work in a traktor, but you'd rather use a car, won't you? Things can be used for many purposes, but they have usually one main purpose.
I use a premium WordPress plugin and theme for me and my members eCommerce solutions. I offer free hosting so you can signup and check out the features and if you like you can either buy or pay for a monthly membership to the developers like i did ( still doing). send me a pm if you wanna try.
I think wordpress is best for blog and cms but not good for shop online . I think magento themes or magento templates is best code for shop online
I think word press is useful for country use English and language with out comma , but in my country use Vietnamese we must adjust for suitable.
