Wordpress for a membership site

I'm considering Wordpress with a few plugins to build a membership based site. I want to use Wordpress as a CMS for the entire site and use one of the plugins to create a paid members-only section.

Does anyone have any experience with a project like this or can recommend some of the best plugins for this. Anything opensource available?

i think u can just set it on your wordpress general tab. there are a setting for membership option.
