Wordpress: Excluding child pages from the menu

    I have a number of pages on my blog. The problem is several of the pages have more than 20 child pages. How do exclude these from the pages menu?

    if u r using wordpress 2.5 , go to
    design > widget > page
    in the page widget you will be able to discard the pages u dont want to appear in the menu , just type its numbers
