Wordpress Error- "Redirect Loop"

    Hi..Just recently upgraded wordpress 2.6 to one of my client

    He wanted wordpress to be in its root..eg.xxyy.com
    So installed in the root.

    He also insisted on 301 redirect from xxyy.com to www.xxyy.com which looks more professional...
    I changed .htaccess with a 301 redirect so it points to www.xxyy.com whenever someone types just domain.com

    Now,when i type domain.com,it simply says "Redirect loop"..Firefox cannot open this webpage ..blah..blah..
    In IE..its even more worse:" Page cannot be Displayed"

    So,could anyone pls help me on How to install the wordpress in the root and redirect to www.xxyy.com, in a way that even Search engines display www.xxyy.com only?

    There is a plugin for Wordpress that can do this for you. My guess is that you have the 301 redirect setup so that even when they type in www.xxyy.com is still tries to redirect them. Remove the lines you added in and get the WWW Plugin from the wordpress plugin database.

    I tried it with WWW plugin also..still it said redirect loop & did not open the page...

    Earlier versions of wordpress were working fine

    i enquired with hosting department & they said wordpress 2.6 cannot redirect to the root...

    If anybody knows of any solution,please help me

    problem is with htaccess file in the root.
    I have a simple solution at http://ortholectures.org/blog

    is non www to www redirect change necessary now a days?
