when you write you can use <!--more--> tag so it displays only a portion of your post, you can use Alt+t or just click the button saying split post with more tag
not sure about the error, but since it display something about categories, I guess you need to try to deactivate any plugins related to categories thing and see if it works, if it doesn't work, then you can examine the plugin codes.
