Wordpress: chmod *.php in template to what?

    In order to edit template files through the wordpress interface, I have always chmod 777 *.php for that template.

    Is this safe? What is the best way to do this?

    755 will do, it is not safe of course

    just chmod to 666. no need 777. because you edit the file in from your server.
