Hi all, Guys I am sick and tired of Bluehost. Whenever I recieve a traffic Spike at http://www.iwebie.com , I freakin get CPU Exceed Errors. This has become very frequent these days due to sudden traffic spikes I get in some days when I am updating a sports result or a Celeb hot topic. I contacted the Bluehost support and they are good for nothing. All that they gave was a following link; Guys how can this help man. I can't go around checking each plugin for optimized SQL.... http://helpdesk.bluehost.com/kb/index.php?mod_id=2&kb_keywords=cpu+exceeded Don't anyone of you get into this problem. I need desperate help here. What to do now
I was with bluehost for a total of 2 days. their support is pathetic, and they have some absolutely silly rules in their tos. For your first step, I recommend finding a new host. This may not be feasible for you if you paid a year or something, but if possible i would switch. But there are a few things you can do to speed things up. 1. Install wp-super cache. This will cache your clog and reduce load times. 2. Eliminate unnecessary php in your template. For example, instead of having php code to display your title, description, or categories, just use html in your template. Eliminating all unnecessary php will lower your cpu usage and load times. 3. use as few plugins as possible. hope this helps.
this is with any host that offers you tons of features for cheap. i am not with bluehost but i go thru the same thing with my host. the plugins kill the server espc any auto blog. i read that if you have your files in another file other than the home file that it will kill the server due to some error
@craiger22: For me Money is not a probelm. Uptime is important for me. I don't mind changing to a better host if its not too much of a transfer hassle so that my sites delivers quality. 1. I have wp-super cache in place already 2. How do I do this. Eliminate unnecessary php in your template. For example, instead of having php code to display your title, description, or categories, just use html in your template. Eliminating all unnecessary php will lower your cpu usage and load times. I need some guidance in this mate. 3. I am using only necessary plugins for my blog and disabled the unimportant ones. Thanks for the tip..... @pluto459 Could you please explain this point mate... i read that if you have your files in another file other than the home file that it will kill the server due to some error
what is your traffic? it seems your blog uses more cpu processing. Dont install too many wordpress plugins and they might consume your cpu with too many SQL queries. Try changing your theme to a simple one. Just an idea! It might just reduce CPU consumption. Give a try`
Mate.. even the Bluehost guys tell you that it might be a problem with the theme. I am sure it is not. I have previously had a theme from Solostream. They had probelms too. I have changed my theme to an other company. Still the same issue.. I agree with the fact that lessening the plugins could be a positive turn. But have the plugin guys not thought of optimizing the plugins before releasing it... I think that must be taken as a serious step....
Thats why i mostly dont use commercial wordpress themes as it takes too much cpu resources. Because most fancy themes do lot of sql queries and thus causing mysql to use more cpu power.
