Wordpress Blogroll Question

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by necromanc, Jan 13, 2008.

I have a wordpress blog, and about 15 link exchanges in blogroll, with websites from my niche. The links are sitewide. Someone told me that if I made the links to appear only on the front page I will have better results in search engines. Is this true or not ? And why ?

    Thanks !

If you're using the keywords you're going for in your blogroll it might help.

i'm wondering the same thing too.
    which is better?

    1) a link on all pages
    2) a link only on the homepage
    3) a link only on high ranking internal pages

I don't think you understand what I was saying. I want to know if the links I have in my blogroll should be only on the index, and if this could improve my rankings in someway. Right now the links are sitewide ( on every page on that blog ).

if you are doing link exchange, then you should not be doing sitewide links. because you are getting one backlink, so you should be giving one link back as well. bloggrolls are sitewide. i would suggest you do a resource page and list your link partners or just list them on the front page if you want. and make sure you exchange links with related sites only.

Agreed, having several site-wide links can leak alot of your page rank and make your site look spammy. Setup a link partners page.

It depends, a page with link partners or recommended sites... is for one link, but if you are doing link exchanges to build more links and to get some traffic you can do it in blogroll, coz it will give you a plenty of links and you will give and receive one more link from every post... it depends on what you and your link exchangers want
