I am setting up a blog on wordpress.com and I have a couple questions.

What is RSS and how can it help me?

How can I get my blog indexed by google quick?

Is there a way to submit a blog entry to google everytime I make a new blog?

Is there a way to put my adsense on a wordpress blog that is hosting by wordpress?

    Thanks

    1. RSS allows people to be updated and pull content from your website. Think of then as regular audience.

    2. Build some links and let them come to you.

    3. Trust me, Google will find it (and quickly).

    4. Not sure, I always host my own s*%t

    Hope this helps.

What is RSS and how can it help me?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it helps because it allows people to subscribe to your blog, and read it on the viewer or client of their choice, like:
    *Their Home Page
*Favorite Reader or email in box
    *Cell Phone
*PDA and a bunch of other ways.
It also should be submitted into RSS directories which will also help you get readers.

How can I get my blog indexed by google quick?
You already have a jump start by using a free hosted blog on a sub domain, but you can still submit separately to the search engines. No there is no quick way, but it doesn't take that long.

Is there a way to submit a blog entry to google everytime I make a new blog?
Most engines and directories don't allow indexing sub pages, but you can submit your articles and posts to a variety of sites at any given time.

Is there a way to put my adsense on a wordpress blog that is hosting by wordpress?
NO! I beleive Wordpress.com allows one affiliate link, and one donation link, but I am not sure.
If you want to use free hosting, and Adsense you need to use Blogger. They are both owned by Google.

He may have been "pinging" his posts.
Pinging is how you alert the "Blogosphere" that you have made a new post, and in each of the services it will show your updated post.
(I don't know why he would keep that a secret from you..it's not a matter of National Security of anything)

If here were actually resubmitting he would be "looked at" sternly :)
SEO value? Little, but traffic value is what you should be more concerned about.
PR, and all that jazz mean nothing if you don't have traffic.
They go hand and hand for the most part, but i have seen PR ranked sites, that have done all the technical work, but the site is just not interesting, and on the flipside, I have seen very popular blogs and websites that did not have a Google PR at first, but get good reads, and visits.

hmansfield mentioned pinging. There are a few sites that will allow you to ping them with updates. . . my faves are http://www.pingoat.com and http://www.pingomatic.com

As for SEO value, a feed and its subscribers are more important then you think. Google actually uses data in and about your feed to rank entries on Googleblogs.

Make a FeedBurner page also. That seems to help over time.
