    Hi,

I started out tonightokay, but gone downhill since then ...

I'm having a wonderful time trying to switch my site from html (built with XSitePro) to Wordpress - the videos I bought seemed to make this look simple, however not everything in the video is actually working the way it is supposed to ... anyway ...

I noticed at the bottom of my pages, it displayed an EDIT button, so anyone could go in and chnage the pages - how do I correct this ?

But, before that can be done, my site is blank right now at http://www.weight-loss-discovery.com - does anyone know the correct settings for Wordpress Access Permissions - for the wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes folders and so on - my .htaccess file is set at chmod 777 because that is what the Brandon Hong videos told me to do - but the other ones are probably not set right ?:

    .......Read .. Write .. Exec

    User...
    Group..
    Other..

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

i would try re-uploading all the wordpress files.

when this happens (generally) its because of a corrupted file (caused by the ftp upload)

The edit button is displayed because you are log'd in to the site.

the blank screen can be caused by a plugin conflict try deactivating them and see what happens, if you have to do this by ftp just rename the plugin and it wont be active anymore.

Most likely your hosts PHP server is down. The URL displays either a blank screen or the "Wordpress database error" screen when the PHP server is playing up. My old host did this regularly. My new host. Not once.

    Hope this helps.

must be an unclosed <b> or <strong> tag somewhere in the template files (likely to be in the header or first post)
