Wordpress Best Practices: Handcode or WYSWYG?

I just moved to WordPress for one of my blogs. The editor is great, but I noticed it doesn't really put HTML in my posts. I'm not seeing <p> tags or anything.

Should I be handcoding my posts? Any Wordpress vets out there relying on just the WYSWYG or are you handcoding.

What's best for Google, SEO and in general. Any tools that make this process easier.

The page after generation converts into HTML only
If you want you can always insert custom HTML but its better to let WP manage your html and let it remain XHTML

I use a mix of Wysiwyg and hard code. There is actually a tab in WP where you can click on HTML or back to Visual Editor
