Currently I have it set at the default: http://www.blog.com/?p=123 What's the best setting for SEO when choosing Permalinks structure? Thanks, Sam Designs.
/%postname%.html if it's gonna be a static, or not a news related blog. If you're gonna be posting alot or have hopes to get into google news then include the year/month as well.
Check this post out cause I'm sure you'll particularly find it pretty useful http://www.nyn9.com/wordpress/tips-tricks-hacks-wp/importance-of-pretty-permalinks/
Its a good setting coz static url helps in seo and adsense. /%category%/%postname%/ or /%category%/%postname%.html
The URL can become really long it you use the category+post title+year+.html If you are not into google news the best way is /%postname%/. That`s what am I using.
I use /%category%/%postname%/ but if the post title is too long I will use the post slug to shorten it to a more keyword targeted URL.
I think it's not wise using .html for wordpress. It seems that you try to trick the search engine by saying that it is a static website? Don't you think how it's look in comments permalink of certain post or the <!--nextpage--> page? It will look as ugly as http://www.domain.com/thepost.html/#comment Or http://www.domain.com/thepost.html/page2/ Just use /%postname% is enough, I think... Sorry,no offence...
I never use slug or don't know how. Is it the one that when we save the draft the one underneath the post title text area?
I simply use /%postname%/ since I have the domain name in the url. Otherwise my addy's would be a bit redundant. Nigel
Use SLUG to overwrite ur long title in URL its on the right BOX new post Under post title is permalink setting
I think most would agree that /%postname%/ or /%category%/%postname%/ is good. Someone mentioned Google News above, so if you want to get in that - you may need to put numbers (such as date, or post ID) in your permalinks.
