Hey, I was wondering if there are any 'base' templates that include a basic styling which anyone can just modify fonts, colours, spacing, images and add elements to make it unique and then resell it? I was interested in wordpress development but it all looks a bit daunting right now to start from scratch, so a base template would be nice. Thankies!
Their "classic" template contains basic lines of code and style so that it allows one to customize without having to redo much of the existing theme.
I am not a lawyer so I can not give legal advice, but I have "heard" that if you change anything enough, you can sell it as your own. Find a real lawyer and they can give you the facts.

I'm pretty sure that the original classic wordpress theme is under a license, so it is against the law to resell it, but I'm not sure if you can change it or not. I just use that theme to study and learn new tags.
I'm sure most wordpress themes are released under a license, either GPL or commercial. But you could definitely start from the default WP theme to learn the basics that your own theme should follow to work properly.
Yeah, if you start your own theme using the basics from the classic wordpress theme, then it's okay to sell it.
