I had a jokes website and just started rebuilding it, ....using wordpress.
Do you think it works OK this way?

I can seperate it into categories and also limit posts per page. I am pretty pleased with it but some other opinions would be appreciated

Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off

Maybe everyone is doing this already with wordpress? I never noticed before.

    thanks in adv.

    James.

I had a reasonably successful joke site with wordpress. It's ideal especially with the email-to-post gateway so you can forward all the crap jokes people send you to the site :)

    James,

Your blog looks nice and WP is one of the best CMS available today.

I suggest you to include a short-cut button/link to Social Bookmarking sites in your blog. So the visitors will be able to add your site to their favorite social bookmarking site.

You can try any of the following (free) services:

    1) Socializer from:
    ekstreme.com/socializer/

    2) Easy Social Bookmarking Tool given at:
    socialbookmarking.marketersgiveaway.com/

    Wishing great success,
    Ishaq.

Yes! You can WP as a website. Firstly I didn't think of it either untill I actully saw somebody using it as a real site for hist company. He was selling web designs, and it really looked good. With diffrent pages, and each design as a post.
WP is not only a blog, but also a CMS.
But I still prefer joomla, or mambo :p

Thanks for the feedback! I can see a lot of uses for it that I never realised before.
Is joomla just as easy to set up?
Do you just install it and voila you have a website? (with a bit of template tweaking)

    Joomla has many features; is there any extension which enables us to assign one item to multiple section/categories?? (i'm searching yet) WP has advantage here that you can assign a joke to multiple;

NO! Joomla is not that simple and straight forward for a bigenner but its amazing software once you have learnt it.

To install its easy, just like any other script.
But you really need to learn using it. Thats getting harder. I'm working with joomla a the moment, just making a stupid site using, just to learn it. I can make site's with it, but I still don't know what everything does in the admin panel, or how to use it. Joomla is very powerfull once you have learned it.

It really is. It got many extensions, and if you know how to use it, it can be very powerfull. I know many sites running it, also for bussines.

Wordpress is pretty much great for anything if you are very skilled in it and are a power user.. I would invest the time just on WP instead of trying to learn other platforms .. :)

I love using wordpress for cms. I think your site looks great but way too professional for a joke site. You need to change the template IMO. I would never think that was a jhoke site if i were to glance at it real quick

I only use WP for blogging otherwise I would recommend joomla or drupal. but I guess since a jokes site is simple word press would be acceptable.

Nice and clean, I like the calendar icon, very neat. Try to blend the ads better, i.e. the text and ads fonts should be matching. Maybe try to use tabs fro the header menu. In addition, ad some background to the page, and leave the white background for the blog body, that will make the whole blog more readable and eye catching. Good luck!

thanks for the replies, much appreciated

Kassi I have blended the ads recently and although it's not a perfect match, they are doing better. I have tried using a background but couldn't settle on one I thought was any good :(

I think it looks better, and I definately need to get an image up on the homepage saying "This is a jokes website"
