I'm a complete newbie to wordpress hosted blogs. Recently when I activated the Akismet plugin, I was asked for my "wordpress API key". I have no idea where and how to get this key. Just could not understand the directions given on by wordpress to get this key. Experienced members please help...how and where can I get this key
I did not get the API key by email. and I saw this page to, it has has a link to the so called profile page, which is: http://wordpress.com/profile But when I click on it a new page appears with the message: "Please login to view your profile." Even though I'm already logged in. And even if I have to login again, there's no place on this page to enter my user id and password!
Naah, tried all those places but couldn't find there. But now I finally got it. They actually make u sign up for another wordpress.com (where you would get a blog url of yourblogname.wordpress.com) account, only then they send you the API key in your email. Dint get any email from them for my hosted wordpress account! Thanks for your trying to help
I went through the same crap before. It took me FOREVER to figure out that you had to sign up at wordpress.COM. They should make that part more clear since now I realize I'm not the only one who had that problem. The good part is once you get your key, it works for every other wordpress blog you set up.
Exactly, I think this little piece of information should be made part of a wordpress sticky. Even I'm glad to know I wasn't alone in this crap Of course, its gr8 that you can use one key for any wordpress blog. People might as well start selling API keys to innocent ignoramuses and newbies to wordpress blogs!
