Wordpress and Spam

Does anyone know how I can reduce if not stop the spam on my blog? I use wordpress and although now, every comment has to be moderated, I still get a lot of spam.

 

You should be able to adjust the amount of links that can go into comments by adjusting the settings in either your Spam Karma, Comments, or Options in WordPress. I forget which one it is..

 

There are many plugins available fro WP to prevent spamming. Liks Egs said try Spam Karma or use the one that comes with WP Akismet.

 

Goto Wordpress.org and signup for a free account!
They will mail you a Wordpress API key! Now login to your wordpress control panel, goto plugins click on Activate on where it says, "Akismet"
Now Akisment will ask you for your wordpress API key, enter it there! And you should be free of SPAM

I never use to have spam now I’m getting flooded by that crap. Should never have posted on this thread!!!

 

Spam Karma is what I use. It's caught 500+ spam comments in one day sometimes so as you can see I had to do something about it.

I don’t like to add any barriers to people that are trying to leave a comment so I decided not to use Spam Karma because it had word verification. Comment moderation for me is also a no because I believe people should be free to say what they want without having to wait for the site administrator’s approval. I will delete spam manually everyday before I even think of using any barriers on commenting.

 

If thats the case you should just use the Comment Blacklist which will delete 95% of the Porn/Gambling upon submission

 

Use spam karma myself and it works great. It's a simple plugin too.

 

Man that's a huge job. If I did that I'd have in excess of 500+ spam to deal with every day.

 

I use Spam Karma 2. Works absolutely perfectly for me and you don't have to fill in a verification code either.
