Wordpress and RSS

This is what I had in mind, is there any plugin for Wordpress that simply uses other sites RSS to display posts?

For example, if I have a car blog, I'll just auto-update using RSS from 3-4 good sites.

    Thanks,

See my sig for a better rss2blog type program.

All of this CAN be done with a bunch of free plugins. Feedwordpress, a rewriter, and some more various ones. But I much prefer autoblogger :)

I believe FeedWordPress may be what you are looking for if i understand correctly.

    From website:
"FeedWordPress is an Atom/RSS aggregator for WordPress. It syndicates content from newsfeeds that you choose into your WordPress blog; if you syndicate several newsfeeds then you can WordPress’s posts database and templating engine as the back-end of an aggregation (”planet”) website. I originally developed it because I needed a more flexible replacement for Planet to use at Feminist Blogs."

sorry you'll need to google the link as i can't post links yet :-(

    Hope that helps!

is it legal to republish an rss feed, or do you have to have specific permission from the original author?

I won't even get into legalities because it "hasn't been proven in court". I'd say it's illegal based on the fact that the courts have upheld copyrights across every other medium to date. Even if it's "illegal" the most they can do is probaby sue you and it doesn't happen or you'd hear about it here.

What you need to know though is that if you do go around pulling feeds from others you most likely will get angry emails, letters, etc. from some of the sites you are republishing demanding that you stop. Since it can be proven that duplicate content can cause their income to drop I'd imagine proving damages is fairly easy as well. That is if you wish to fly across the country and show up for court to even fight it. Thousands republish without any such thing happen but it's a personal choice and not backed up by law yet.

    Cheers

FeedWordpress is the plugin you need, some people might have trouble installing it for some reason, read the readme file first. ;)

I think this is considered copyright infringement and content theft !!!!

I write my own articles and i hate seeing others copying it

I would worry less about that, it's public information, and if you place "Source: the Sun" for example, you can take it.

The thing that worries me, is Google Sandbox, because it checks for duplicate content, and if he finds it, the site goes to sandbox.. so, it's bad to start a new domain with rss autoposting, rather keep it for 2-3 months empty or with few original content.

about content, if you realy serios about earning from ad revenue than you have to culture writing some thing of your own. that is real content.
if you think you are not too good to write up a complete article then try reviewing other content. put your own review. and mix up them with relavent other's content.

absolutely borrowed content cant keep you in business for long with high profit.

I believe you can't start a Blog with RSS-posts because Google's second sandbox will check for duplicate content with a very suspicious eye, and if cough on it, there goes a penalty.

Also, I think you can start your own 2-3 months by writing articles and after your first PR achievement, start RSS if you're having too many blogs to handle.

I have read of many bloggers that were using this method, and they faced a heavy backlash because word gets around in the blogosphere very fast.
You will be surprised, and its not pleasant to face bad publicity, next Google comes after you and may find your Adsense banned or something. You will be famous for wrong reasons...that's the worst that could happen.

I have been surfing alot of blogs & I always increasingly read that some bloggers who were angry that their material was used elsewhere published those guys names on their blogs and eventually those sites and the owners got into big trouble..so I'd NOT recommend you do this, UNLESS you're a premium publisher and those premium publishers got into this game a long time ago...if you know what I mean. All it takes is a DMCA complaint for your account to be disabled. I'm assuming youre counting on Adsense, right?

Its definitely not safe, for all us non "premium" publishers who dont make Google buckets of money.

But if you take the content from sites that explicitly allow you to do that, than youre perfectly fine...
