Wordpress and Adsense

I wanted to display adsense on a wordpress blog. I currently have the free blog and I understand you can't add adsense to free wordpress according to their TOS.
I wanted to actually move the blog to a domain I already have with web hosting. I clicked on upgrades>domains from my blogs cpanel but when I enter the domain I own it says my namesevers are not pointed at NS1.wordpress.com etc.
If I change my nameservers for that domain the rest of my site is no longer going to operate because I will have pointed them away from my host. I see some other sites have wordpress blogs and they continued to host the rest of the site with another host. When I look in help it just tells me to change my nameservers which is not what I want to do.
Can anyone advise me on what to do here?

The best is simply download the wordpress script from wordpress.org and install it on your own webserver.

That does seem like the easiest way. Thanks. I was at the wordpress.com site and did not see the download, I went their .org site and now I see where to download it.
I was now wondering, if I download the script and place it on my own host and then make posts, can I still get the posts to show up in the tags on wordpress.com? For example here:
    http://wordpress.com/tag/google-pr/
provided I have a category called google pr.

Export all the entries and comments and info from your current wordpress blog, then when you install it on your own server, import all the info and it will look as if nothing had changed.

    Refrence:

    Dashboard > Manage > Export
