Hi, Is there any way in which I want my wordpress to keep a fixed user(say admin by default) whose passwords and profile info cannot be edited or changed by other admin users. Or can I make it disabled/disappear from the authors and users list? I want to have multiple admins for my site but i dont want anyone to be able to change my password. I know there isn't any plugin for this one , any help would be welcomed . I have been working on this one for 3 days now but no success at max i have been able to disable the whole of users panel but that wont work for me. thanks, Ripul
Only you can change your password. If you are going to have multiple admins, just give them their own log in privileges and it shouldn't be a problem as long as they don't know your password. You could also use a Role Manager plug in that allows you to set permissions for each user that cannot be changed by anyone but you.
I know about the role manager plugin, but that plugin can be disabled by other admin users as well. just help me a bit in understanding how do i do this "just give them their own log in privileges" .
You don't have to make people Admins just to give them posting and content creation privileges. You set the level of access that they are allowed to have. You can give them permission to just post, or let them also create pages. You can also set it so that their content has to be approved before it goes live. You can also restrict what category they are allowed to post in. There are a ton of options and restrictions that you can set for your writers. You don't have to make them Admins. Personally, I don't give anyone Admin privileges. I'm the blogfather of my sites and no one else can ever have the same privileges as me.
If you want the member just to post new articles and create new pages, you don't have to make him admin.
Guess what guys, i figured out myself and i have just made a blog entry perhaps that would tell you better what I exactly wanted http://wackao.com/be-a-wordpress-super-administrator/ thanks for taking out time for me.
Thanks for sharing the article, it is a good tutorial. This is great if you are in charge of naming the original admins and giving them authority to create others, but I need to add that you want to be very careful with allowing others to become admins and to name other admins Spammers are ruthless and generally not very intelligent, or else they wouldn't be spammers, but they will spend more time looking for an opportunity to drop an article or a link, than just doing it the right way. Allowing others to become admins, without monitoring the blog is a spam fest waiting to happen. I have 2 blog networks and no matter how much spam protection I have and how prevalent I announce the spam policy and what will happen...spammers can't help themselves. Even though they know their spam will be deleted instantly and everything about them blocked, the will still waste the time to dump an article that will only be live a matter of seconds...hence why spammers are pretty stupid. Lastly, as much as I love this forum...it's full of such people looking for an opportunity to exploit so be really careful around here announcing an open blog. Not saying what you are doing is wrong, on the contrary. But, monitoring and complete control is the only way not to wake up one morning and see that some dumb ass has posted a bunch of articles for cheap watches, with his affiliate link spattered about.
