So... i've just updated WordPress to version 3.8 and i really like the way they have changed the style of the admin back-end and the improved Widgets and Theme previews... What's everyone's thoughts?
It looks nice but I can't see any significant gains from the upgrade. I'll have to dig through the release notes
It wasn't updating with the single click so had to do it via FTP manually, took some time to do that actually, was not amused. But yes, the dashboard looks better now.
This update is basically for admin section, and very few bugs were fixed. BTW WP 3.8 looks more professional.
3.8 was, without a doubt, a complete and utter waste of time, except for the very few core changes. The admin UI hasn't changed: it's functionally the same as it was, just with a different font and a few dashboard widgets updated (mostly made less useful). In real terms, the back-end reformat has forced everyone who's written a plugin with an options screen to redo everything so it fits nicely... just because WP decided to change the font. All the list views refuse to fit properly on the screen (especially if they have an additional column or two), half the add-on menus created by plugins have been pushed off the bottom, the installed themes list is truly ugly and it's all just SOOOO annoying when there's no real benefit. Horrible.
The backend for me looks good and impressive, but when i changed the theme to 2014 i changed it back immediately, it looks really unprofessional, but this is my opinion only.
